National Chamber of Exporters (NCE)President Ravi Jayawardene appreciated the excellent services rendered by Sri Lankan exporters to swell the country’s economy and said conducting award presentation ceremonies will strengthen and encourage our exporters to perform well in the international market.
He made these observations during the 30th annual export awards ceremony held at Shangri- La Hotel in Colombo. Approximately 142 local exporters won awards and certificates during the ceremony. Associated Newspapers of Ceylon (Lake House) was the Print Media Sponsor for the event again.
Addressing the gathering the NCE President said the organizers this year have also decided to award the prestigious ‘NCE Challenge Trophy’ to export organizations who performed well under small, medium, large and extra-large categories.
He said the NCE Export awards felicitates several categories including products and service turnover and innovation and ethical trading. The winners of the awards presentation were selected by a prominent panel of independent judges who excelled in their respective fields. Jayawardene said these prestigious awards showcased the national and international recognition of Lankan exporters. “As we are aware Sri Lanka is focusing towards creating an export-oriented economy, it is happy that the Chamber is highly motivating the exporters and also encouraging them to perform better,” he said.
He further said this year’s export awards recognize the achievements of exporters who performed well, especially during these most challenging times.
“This annual event has also achieved national recognition due to the maintenance of high standards when selecting the awards,” he said. The NCE President further said this nature of award ceremonies will create much-needed exposure to Lankan exporters and also prospective overseas buyers as well as business partners, especially during this period of crisis.
He said due to this award ceremony Lankan exporters will receive the needed publicity for their products in the future.
